After the CATE pre-conference - Pics and thoughts

Dear Colleagues

What a wonderful experience CSSE 2007 was, especially with the great conversations that started at the pre-conference and went on throughout the conference. Below are pics from the Friday. Thanks again for all those who contributed their time, expertise, energy and stories of possibilities and reflections.

Now...what next?

What thoughts resonated with you?

One thought that has resonated with me is the idea that we need to understand how to teach about teaching as we ask bigger questions about our teaching that allow us to unpack and act on the complexities of issues surrounding diversity, learning and the very survival of humanity.

Hello everyone
First of all, I think that we should thank Tim and Leanna and their team for providing us with this opportunity to continue some of the thought-provoking conversations that began at the conference before they are pushed out of minds by the daily routines of university life. I look forward to congress each year as an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and friends because it is so stimulating to exchange with people who work outside of my institution and my province. Using this technology we can keep up the exchanges on an on-going basis, and not limit ourselves to a few minutes following a presentation at CATE each year.

I think it is important that we rise to Tim's challenge of "what's next?" by making sure there is a "next", and not waiting until next year to talk about "the what."

So, in response to Tim I will ask another question: What do you do to help you "understand how to teach about teaching" in your programmes, and what does that look like in terms of your practice as a teacher educator?

I look forward to your responses.
